Social Studies
Welcome to 5th grade Social Studies. In 5th grade, we will be covering early American History up until the year 1787. We will cover history like Early Native Americans, Explorers, Columbian Exchange, 1st European settlements, the 13 original colonies, events that led to the American Revolution, and the War itself. Students will learn using direct instruction, technology-based activities, projects, cooperative learning, and student-directed learning opportunities.
At the end of 5th grade, we do take the MSTEP for Social Studies. This assesses the knowledge our students have learned in the area of Social Studies from third grade to now. This page of the website will provide information on the current area of study, helpful websites and documents, and links to the Michigan K-12 Social Studies Standards (2018.) Please check back regularly for upcoming projects and MSTEP review information as the test approaches. |
Social Studies One-Pager for New England Colonies will be due Wednesday, February 19th. Below are visual examples of a One-pager. Clink on the link for the Microsoft Word document that provides information on the assessment.
